Coming across a New York Times article in the Sunday Edition for November 2, 2008, I read, “But Elstir’s artistic ideal, to perceive things more innocently–or as Becket describes it, to represent what he sees, and not what he knows or ought to see.”
About five years ago, I began writing reflective personal essays in which I examine my perception of reality. These essays and their evolution can be found at The Book of Innocence. In a spirit of inquiry and “innocence” about the world, I record my non-fiction, personal essays on this site. I attempt to see the world with fresh eyes.
I’ll leave you with this (another quote from the article): “We are held prisoner by preconceptions, by habit and by the normal machinery of memory, which provides only a pale, distorted record of experiences.”
